Teaching methods

In this course you are supposed to have fun while learning Sound Design for TV!

Most of the course will be held on-line and in small teams. We will use Zoom for on-line sessoins. All needed information will be on Moodle. All the assignments will be returned to Moodle. Workshops are based on guided team learning.

Student workload

Fridays are meant for lectures and team learning work. Most of the assignments are planned so that they could and should be done during workshop days.

There can be assignments that require working during the weeks. And possible corona restrictions might change how the teams are able to work.

Students should have basic understanding of these topics before this course:

- Signal flow in most recording situations, ie most often used cables and equipment for digital and analog audio.
- Microphones and using them.
- Basic using of a DAW. On this course students will use ProTools, and this is not a ProTools Basics course.
- Basic using of Adobe Premiere ("you have opened Premiere and know roughly what it is for")

Audio Technolgy Basics and Introduction to Sound Design should have been done previously, or similar basic knowledge on audio.

Team learning will help you to overcome some of the required skills - but then you need to put effort on learning them and participate to the team work!

Teaching methods

In this course you are supposed to have fun while learning Sound Design for TV!

Most of the course will be held on-line and in small teams. We will use Zoom for on-line sessoins. All needed information will be on Moodle. All the assignments will be returned to Moodle. Workshops are based on guided team learning.

Students will divide to four teams (each with 3-5 students) who will attend workshops. Workshops are mostly carried out without contact teaching, but there will be live guidance via Zoom (or whatsapp etc). You will get instructions to do each task and everything will be on Moodle.

Teams should not be in close contact with other teams during workshop days. There will be assignments in Moodle for every workshop and lecture.
