Multifaceted teaching methods are used: lectures, independent study, virtual studies, project studies and a Master's thesis

COMPETENCES DEVELOPED
The focus of the degree programme is on evidence based nursing in the care of acute illnesses or mental health and substance abuse work. The degree programme gives qualifications and competence to develop nursing in acute illnesses or in mental health and substance abuse work as well as in clinical practice in different environments. In addition the students gain the Master’s level clinical nursing expertise in these fields.

After the graduation students are qualified to apply for vocational teacher’s education or other public positions, where Master’s level education is required. The degree is comparable with equivalent degrees in other EU countries (EQF, level 7).

PROFESSIONAL STATUS
The degree programme gives qualifications to work as clinical experts or developers in acute illness nursing or in mental health and substance abuse work.

IMPLEMENTATION
Multifaceted teaching methods are used, including two days of contact teaching monthly.
The studies of mental health and substance abuse work are arranged in co-operation with three other Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences. These studies include also intensive days in Jyväskylä, Tampere, Oulu and Turku.

Description

The focus of the degree programme is on evidence based nursing in acute illnesses. The degree programme gives qualifications and competence to develop nursing in acute illnesses in different environments. In addition the students gain the Master’s level clinical nursing expertise in these areas of care.
