Course unit code: RM-1103

General information

Credits

Objectives

The students are able to describe statistics, to calculate statistical key figures, to understand the significance of the results and to make conclusions based on the results. The students are able to use the computer to make the calculations and graphs. The students become familiar with the basics of differential and integral calculation of one variable. They understand the derivative as instantaneous rate of change and as a descriptor of properties of the function as well as the integral through division in smaller parts.

Content

Statistics and describing them (Excel), statistical key figures (Excel), correlation (Excel), regression (Excel), derivate as the rate of change. The calculation of the derivate: graphical, numerical and through formulas. Some applications of the derivate. The calculation of the integral: graphical, numerical and through formulas. Some applications of the integral. Project work (applying distribution, correlation and regression) (Excel).
