- master reporting practices of cytological samples
- know cancer screening and its importance
- can evaluate cervical smears according to the Bethesda system
- know quality assurance and occupational safety factors in cytology

Cytological specimens, sampling and fixation
Preparation techniques for cytological samples
Pananicolaou staining, cytological criteria for malignance, and Papanicolaou classification
Microscopy and digital evaluation of cervical smears according to the Bethesda system
Diagnostics of cervical cancer
Histological classification of cervical pre cancers
Cancer screenings
Quality assurance in cytology and occupational safety

Prerequisites

The student must have passed 7B00CU98 Anatomy and Physiology and Preparation of Tissue Sections, and 7B00BC29 Recognition of Tissues before the course the Orientation to Clinical Cytology.7B00BC30

The course includes clinical training in the university of applied sciences' teaching laboratory.
