Objectives

The student
- knows the progress of normal delivery and the delivery mechanism
- knows follow-up of the delivery progress and knows monitoring of the wellbeing of foetuses, and is able to recognize foetal distress
- knows pain relief methods used during delivery
- is able to perform normal deliveries under supervision, and is able to perform episiotomy and suture it
- knows how to prevent perineal tears and how to prevent haemorrhage during the third stage of delivery by using relevant techniques
- is able to evaluate the status of newborns, and is able to take care of the wellbeing of newborns, and can recognize changes in the status of foetuses
- is able to observe and support early interaction between the newborn and family
- knows how to perform in abnormal labour
