Objectives

The Student
- recognises the symptoms of severe mental health and substance abuse problems using screening questionnaires and interviews;
- can plan and implement a client-centred care process with patients and their significant others;
- manages implementation of pharmacotherapy;
- is able to utilise multidisciplinary information in professional decision-making and use evidence-based information as a basis for nursing;
- manages reporting and documentation;
- recognises negative attitudes towards mental health and substance abuse problems and tries to correct them her/his own practice.

Prerequisites

Vaihtoehtoisten ammattiopintojen alkaessa opiskelijalla tulee olla suoritettuna 135 op opintoja. Näihin tulee sisältyä sen alueen keskivaiheen teoreettiset opinnot, mitä opiskelija on valinnut vaihtoehtoisiksi ammattiopinnoikseen ja anatomian ja fysiologian opinnot. Osallistuminen mielenterveys- ja päihdehoitotyön teoreettiset opinnot 1 4 op opintojaksoon.
