Objectives

The student
- can recognise, choose and use different kinds of interventions in mental health and substance abuse nursing according to the needs of the patients and their families;
- is capable of creating client-centred nurse-patient relationships;
- manages implementation of pharmacotherapy;
- is able to utilise multidisciplinary information in professional decision-making and acts as a nursing experts in interdisciplinary teams;
- manages reporting and documentation;
- can critically reflect on mental health and substance abuse care from the ethical viewpoint;
-recognises her/his own development needs in professional interaction and is able to use clinical supervision to support professional growth.

Prerequisites

Vaihtoehtoisten ammattiopintojen alkaessa opiskelijalla tulee olla suoritettuna 135 op opintoja. Näihin tulee sisältyä sen alueen keskivaiheen teoreettiset opinnot, mitä opiskelija on valinnut vaihtoehtoisiksi ammattiopinnoikseen ja anatomian ja fysiologian opinnot.

Vaihtoehtoisten ammattiopintojen orientoivaan harjoitteluun osallistuminen edellyttää vastaavaan teoriaan osallistumista samanaikaisesti tai aiemmin.
