Objective of course
Students:
-can maintain, develop and evaluate their Swedish skills and language learning skills.
-develop and improve their oral and written skills to meet the requirements of their professional field.
-can search for information and make good use of it in developing their own expertise
- are familiar with the Swedish cultural background in Finland and in the Nordic countries and can use the Swedish language when communicating with people from different cultures.
- acquire the oral and written language skills in Swedish required of state officials functioning in a position requiring a higher education in a bilingual office (Civil Service Language Proficiency Certificate; the competence level B1 = Satisfactory, B2 = Good, CEF*)

Course contents
Getting acquainted with the vocabulary needed in laboratory environment by means of texts and exercises of different types
-reading of analysis instructions and instructions for use of laboratory equipment in Swedish
-reading of professional texts in Swedish

Teaching methods
Contact teaching based on authentic, communicative, experiential and cooperative methods and independent studying

Assessment methods
Active participation in the planning of one's own learning and work forms of the course, written and oral tasks and self-evaluation. Examination and / or a language portfolio composed during the course

Prerequisites
General upper secondary school syllabus (B-language) or equivalent skills
(European reference frame levels A2-B1)
