Basics of Chemical TechnologyLaajuus (5 cr)

Objectives

The students know the production methods and reactions of the most important products of the Finnish chemical industry. The students know the most significant parts of environmental protection of chemical engineering, life span thinking and can take the principles of sustainable development and environmental friendly technology into account.

Content

The most important production processes of chemical engineering, for example: water handling processes, metal production, oil refining, production of sulphuric acid and nitric acid. The chemistry of production process, raw materials and products (reactions, emissions and diminishing them).

Prerequisites

Inorganic Chemistry and Laboratory Work (PTK-400) or equivalent.
