Basic Language Course in Engineering, SwedishLaajuus (3 cr)

Objectives

The aim of the course is to teach the students oral and written communication skills and presentation skills which they will need in the working life as well as to familiarise them with the basic terminology of construction technology. The course prepares the students for the course Engineering Swedish.

The topics of the course:
• Telling about yourself
- studies and education
- hobbies
- living
• Finland
• Travelling
• Small Talk
- greeting, introductions etc.
• Discussion and presentation exercises
• Basic terminology of technology
• Review of basic grammar

Further information

Prerequisites: A2 level language skills
Literature: To be agreed upon at the beginning of the course
Teaching methods: Pair and group discussions, texts and listening exercises, grammar exercises, presentation exercises.
Method of completion: Taking part in the classroom education, written exam.
Language of tuition: Finnish and Swedish
