Objectives
The students learn the basic phenomena of mechanical oscillation, wave motion, sounds as well as atomic and nuclear physics. The students know the physical laws behind the operating principles of different devices and machines.
Content
Damped, non-damped and forced oscillation, basics of wave motion, sounds and acoustics, interaction between radiation and matter, quantization, photons and energy levels, radioactivity, radiation safety and nuclear energy.
Prerequisites
Engineering physics 1 or equivalent
Further information
Literature to be announced at the beginning of the course. Teaching methods: lectures, demonstrations, calculation assignments, independent work as well as mid-term exams or a final exam. The passed course is evaluated in scale 1-5. Prerequisites: K-11012A or equivalent. Language of tuition: Finnish.
