Osaamistavoitteet

The aim of the course is to educate students to understand the significance of the facility management (FM) and the operations & maintenance (O&M) for buildings and premises. The students will come to know, how the FM and O&M processes serve the needs of the owners and the users of buildings. The students learn the main concepts and tasks of facility management, know the operation of apartment building companies and the basics of housing trade.

Basic concepts of real estate management. Significance of facility management in national economy, life span for facilities, organisations of the field of real estate, information sources. Also basics of maintenance, governing and economics of facility management. Basics of apartment building companies, housing trade and security engineering in facilities.
- Regulations and planning of facilities management and operations & maintenance services
- Acquisition and selection criteria of (alternative) services
- Operational and performance requirements, degree of utilization
Costs, tariffs and potential savings in consumptions and costs.
