Objectives

Having completed work on this course, students will be able to use the target language to cope in the most common communication situations, for example when travelling on business, or receiving foreign visitors at their place of business. Communicative functions practised will include conducting personal business, asking for and giving information, offering assistance, and giving advice.

Aqcuired level of competence: A1-A2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

- Oral and written communicative practice in natural and realistic situations
- Social interaction
- Cultural characteristics and local customs of native speakers of the target language
- Essential grammatical structures

Prerequisites

No prerequisites, or at the maximum, 2 years of German studied in grammar school.

Teaching methods: The practice activities are based on interpersonal interaction, and promote the development of communicative competence face-to-face and in writing. Audio-visual on-line learning tools may also be used.

Language of tuition: Finnish.

Year: Business Administration in Finnish: 2nd year of studies; International Business: 1st year of studies; Other degree programmes: no restrictions.
