Objective of course
Students
- can maintain, develop and evaluate their language skills and language learning skills
- can use Swedish orally and in written in situations of their own professional field
- can acquire information and exploit it in developing their own expertise
- become familiar with the culture of the Swedish-speaking population in Finland and in the Nordic countries and can communicate with people from different kind of cultures in Swedish
- acquired the oral and written language skills in Swedish required of state officials functioning in a position requiring a higher education in a bilingual office (civil service language proficiency certificate, European reference frame level B1= sufficient, B2= good)

Course contents
- key contents and terminology of the professional field in Swedish
- communication situations required in professional interaction in Swedish in meaningful contexts

Teaching methods
Authentic, experiential and cooperative contact teaching and independent work

Assessment methods
Active participation in the planning of their own learning and work forms of the course, oral and written assignments and self-evaluation. Examination and/or a language portfolio compiled during the course.

Prerequisites
General upper secondary school syllabus of B-language or equivalent skills (European reference frame levels A2-B1)

The literature will be specified at the beginning of the course
