Objectives (course unit)

Cross-cultural communication skills are becoming more and more important in today’s world of business and globalisation. Having knowledge of different cultures facilitates communication in multi-cultural working environments.
The purpose of this course is to equip students with intercultural business knowledge by real-case examples. The course is designed as an online course in collaboration with TAMK's strategic partners including Munich University of Applied Sciences.

The learning outcomes will include cross-cultural communication skills in various situations.

Assessment methods and criteria

Evaluation is based on continuous assessment, assignments, participation in online video conferencing activities. Students collect point from every post, a minimum of 5 points will be awarded to every post and assignments. A total of 100 points. The university grading scale will be applied (0 - 5)

Student workload

Students spend time reading articles, course materials and videos, collaborative work students from geographically distant locations. Online meetings, video conferencing, write short reports, make short videos, discuss in forums and blogpost to TABULA.

Further information

The course will be intensive; reading, writing, researching, collaborating. Participating students should be ready to collaborate with students from geographically distant locations,e.g. Budapest, Czech republic, etc..

Student did not complete the intitial tasks and has not submitted, any report.

Assessment criteria - satisfactory (1-2) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student should complete the intitial tasks and submit at least, one report (Reflection on individual skills). Complete at least, half of the assignments.

Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student should complete the intitial tasks and submit 2 reports. Complete all the assignments.The submitted essay follows the norms of academic writing, recognition of source materials, in-text referencing, list of referencing. The language with fewer obvious grammatical mistakes.

Assessment criteria - excellent (5) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student should complete the intitial tasks and submit 2 reports. Complete all the assignments. The submitted essay follows the norms of academic writing, recognition of source materials, in-text referencing, list of referencing. The language must be free from obvious grammatical mistakes.
