Objectives (course unit)

The Student
- is able to plan, implement and evaluate the monitoring of the schoolchild's growth and development in cooperation with the student and his / her family
- is able to guide and support schoolchildren in choices that promote health
- is able to guide and support the family in the parenting of a schoolchild and in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle
- is able to assess the need for special support and follow-up care for the schoolchild and his / her family in cooperation with the schoolchild and his / her family
- is able to maintain and promote, in cooperation with families and other actors, a safe growth community and environment for schoolchildren
- is able to guide, implement and evaluate a schoolchild's medication in cooperation with his / her family

Prerequisites (course unit)

The student must have completed 135 ects in the nursing phase and participated in the course Basics of Public Health Nursing

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The Student
- knows the main contents of the periodic health examinations of schoolchildren and is able to assess the factors influencing the growth and development of schoolchildren
- is able to identify the needs of schoolchildren's health promotion and knows the basics of schoolchildren's guidance
- understands the importance of the family as a supporter of the well-being of the schoolchild
- identifies the need for special support for the schoolchild and his/her family
- recognizes the importance of the growth community and environment for the well-being of the schoolchild
- know the main aspects of schoolchild's medical care

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The Student
- masters the contents of the periodic health examinations of schoolchildren and takes them into account in the implementation of family follow-up
- is able to use researched information to support schoolchild guidance and is able to justify healthy choices
- is able to support parents in promoting the well-being of the schoolchild
- is able to support the schoolchild and the family in need of special support
- is able to promote, in cooperation with families and other actors, a safe environment for the schoolchild to grow
- is able to guide, implement and evaluate a school-age child's medication in cooperation with his / her family

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The Student
- is able to look at the situation of the schoolchild and the family holistically and shows the ability to support the schoolchild and the family individually
- masters individual guidance of the schoolchild in health-promoting choices
- can guide parents in promoting the well-being of the schoolchild
- is able to guide the schoolchild and the family in special needs and demonstrates skills in monitoring special needs and follow-up care
- is able to maintain a safe growth environment for the schoolchild in cooperation with families and other actors
- is able to guide, implement and evaluate individually a school-age child's medication in cooperation with his / her family
