Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

The student
- is able to describe health promotion as a part of nursing;
- knows the importance of mental health for individuals, groups and communities and recognises the different levels of mental health care;
- knows the impact of becoming ill on the well-being of the individual and the family;
- gains skills in order to observe and discuss issues related to mental well-being of individuals and families;
- takes responsibility for his/her learning and actions during small-group learning activities and commits herself/himself to the goal-oriented problem-solving process in small-group education;
- is able to describe the connection between mental factors and health;
- knows the mental development of different ages.

- protective and risk factors in mental health, different levels of mental health
- impact of illness on the well-being of individuals and families, illness in crises, steps in crisis
- addiction as a complex phenomenon and prevention of harmful addiction
- recognition of issues related to addictions
- recognition of one’s own attitudes
- human mental activity and behavior

Part 1 Nursing: Mark 0-5, group-exam. Mandatory participation in orientation on the 1st lecture. Active participation and completed tasks.
Part 2 Psychology: Mark 0-5, group-exam, Essay evaluation pass/fail. Mandatory participation in orientation on the 1st lecture.
Part 3 Small groups: Presentation 15.2 evaluated pass/fail, 100% presence, active participation.

Health promotion, nursing 1,5 cr and psychology 1,5 cr = 3 cr.
Requires 3 x 27h = 81 hours of student’s work. Lectures 18 hours, small group work (some of the small group work hours will be in Haag) + independent work 59h, exams 2 x 2h.
