Master’s Degree Program in Automation Technology
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree is intended for those people who have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (technology or traffic) and who have at least three years of working experience in a related field after
completing the degree. For those applicants, who have first completed a vocational or higher vocational diploma and then Bachelor’s degree, the three year minimum may be accepted as the required experience, provided that at least one year is after the completion of Bachelor’s degree.
EDUCATION
The program target is to provide the students with the educational background to work as a specialist, developer and manager in the field of automation technology. Further target is technology, R&D, automation and project management skills to innovate, design, develop and produce technology products and services. The starting point of the program is the needs of the working life and the end customer needs.
The aggregated skills in this program vary slightly according to the student’s choice but consist of the following: Innovation knowhow, technology design and development, production automation and quality management, project management, machine automation, automation technology, electrical motor drives, standards and directives, energy efficiency.

Automation companies need engineers with Master’s degree as specialists, designers and developers and as project managers.

Automation technology is used to produce various kinds of products and solutions. The basis for the education is sustainable development, product life cycle managements and ethical operations.
STRUCTURE OF STUDIES
The scope of the degree is 60 credit points and it consist of an automation technology development task (30 cr), advanced professional studies (20 cr) and the studies of own choice (10 cr). The studies of own choice can be selected from automation technology basket (5 cr) and from common basket (5cr).
In advanced professional studies the students deepen their knowledge and skills on automation technology. The studies of own choice are aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge related to the development task or special professional needs.
