COMPETENCES DEVELOPED

The aim of the Degree Programme in Information Technology is to educate specialized IT professionals who have the competence of a senior designer or a software architect. The studies focus on the most important applications and methods of modern IT engineering.
The focus areas are software requirements, system architectures, server and mobile programming, and also conceptual modeling and databases. It is also possible to complete a course which focuses on project work in an international and multicultural working environment.

The education adheres to national (NQF) and European (EQF) frameworks.

BASIC VALUES OF EDUCATION

The task of the producer is to bring together and lead various individuals and professional groups. The basis for creative and innovative work is respecting difference, multiple values and multiculturalism. An individual is an active and responsible actor, whose choices can affect cultural processes. Being an IT professional includes thinking of technical and social questions of one’s own professional ethics and expertise area. Responsibility also includes an independent and active attitude towards studying.

TEACHING METHODS

The scope of the degree programme is 60 credits. It consists of Master’s Thesis (30 credits) and advanced professional studies (25 credits), where the focus is on software engineering. The Master’s Thesis is a working-life based development project, which also includes writing a report.

The studies can be completed within 1 to 1.5 years alongside work as blended learning. The students are supported to work alongside studies by using an on-line environment and distance education forms a significant part of studies.
