Objectives
The students are familiar with the data systems used in harvesting, and are able to efficiently take advantage of the data systems offered by forest machines, machine companies and contractors when planning and implementing the company’s functions. They know the possibilities offered by forest machinery data systems, and can support machine drivers. The students know how to interpret the data produced by the data systems, and to make decisions to improve efficiency. The students understand the principles of forest management and know how to create and fix forest management data files in a way which serves the interests of the production facility, the forest owner and the machine driver.
Content
The harvesting data systems offered by the largest wood procurement organisations (UPM Metsä, Stora Enso, Metsäliitto Group and Metsähallitus), the control systems of the largest forest machine manufacturers (John Deere, Ponsse and Komatsu Valmet), measuring equipment and checking their functionability, forest management data systems and using them (Apteri, SilviA), office applications for monitoring production and functions (TimerOffice and TimberLink).
