Objectives
Students learn the solid principles and practises of machine element design by applying methods that vary in accuracy and design effort. By applying dimensioning standards and calculation procedures, students design various machine elements and components of importance, to fulfill their operational specification.
Content
Different themes concerning machinery and machine design: Design principles, dimensioning, design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), product catalogues. Adhesive joints, rivet joints, chain and toothed belt drives, gears, helical gear drives, shaft clutches and joints, splines, vibration isolation, dampers and springs.
