Objectives

The student is able to
- calculate the cooling need for cooling and refrigeration systems
- present the basic thermodynamic processes in cooling technology and identify the wiring diagrams and main components of refrigeration systems
- calculate the mass and energy balances of a cooling process as well draw the refrigerant of a refrigeration process on a logp,h drawing
- find out the regulations concerning refrigeration
- find out about the devices and their manufactures
- receive cooling and refrigeration systems

Content

Principles of calculating cooling needs. District cooling as a solution. Basic processes of compressor refrigeration, refrigerants, essential standards and regulations, cool storage, heat exchange pumps, pipe installation and adjustment in a cooling and refrigeration unit, compressors, evaporators and condensers, expansion valves and other accessories. Lubricants and dimensioning software for refrigeration.
