Objective of course: 
Students 
-deepen their know-how on health promotion as part of their future profession 
-are able to support people in making health promotive choices, support them in changes in life as well as establishing the made changes 
-know the major laws and national and international documents concerning health promotion 
-are capable of implementing the main tasks of public health to promote health and reduce health differences between population groups 
-are capable of working as representatives of nursing and health care in multiprofessional health promotion teams, projects and networks 
-know the main infectious diseases, their prevention and treatment 
-can vaccinate safely 
-are able to work in unusual conditions and emergencies in health care according to the instructions 
-can act as nursing experts in sustainable development and environmental health promoting work 
 
Course contents: 
-laws on health promotion, programmes on health politics and their local implementation 
-different approaches of health promotion: individual, family, community and society level 
-health promotive choices and establishment of changes in life 
-affecting health differences in population groups 
-contents and methods of health education 
-multiprofessional cooperation and voluntary sector as cooperation partner 
-infectious diseases and their prevention, vaccination 
-health care in unusual conditions  
 
Teaching methods: 
Lectures, tutorials, orientation to clinical training, supervised independent learning, clinical training, seminar  
 
Assessment methods:  
Exams, peer review, self-evaluation, evaluation given by the supervisor and teacher 
 
Prerequisites: 
First-year studies, second-year studies
