Objective of course: 
Students: 
-have basic knowledge of social and health care management and leadership 
-recognise the importance of management and leadership in care environments 
-know their responsibility in quality assurance and development of nursing 
-are capable of scientific argumentation 
-understand the significance of nursing science in the development of nursing practices 
-are familiar with the scientific research process 
-recognize problems and development needs in the field of nursing and consider possible topics for their thesis 
-know how to search and use foreign-language reference material 
-are familiar with the main statistic methods, can produce and interpret statistics 
-are familiar with and can apply the main qualitative research methods and analyse qualitative data in an appropriate manner 
-are capable of using graphical and statistical means offered by information technology in their thesis 
-are familiar with the main principles of project work and can apply them to project work 
-have holistic nursing skills

-management and development of operational environment 
-rights and duties of employees 
-data security of data systems 
-scientific information and argumentation 
-key contents of nursing science and its research objects  
-meaning of nursing science to nursing practice, theoretic basis of nursing science 
-basics of statistics 
-scientific problem solving and phases of the research process 
-scientific approaches and research methods 
-research ethics 
-scientific publication and terminology 
-planning, implementation and evaluation of projects 
-participation in projects 
-exam in nursing skills of the second year and web-based test in pharmacotherapy

Lectures, small group work, assignments, supervised independent study, study visits, material analysis exercises, project work 
 
Assessment methods: 
Exam, self-evaluation, peer review, assignments, feedback given by the teacher and supervisor
