The student: 
-knows the factors causing illnesses, their pathophysiology and diagnosis 
-knows the most common clinical and microbiological examinations 
-knows the impact of becoming ill on the individual and family 
-knows how to observe and bring up issues concerning mental wellbeing 
-knows the basic needs of people and how to promote health 
-knows how to help and support persons in daily activities according to the principles of ergonomics and promotion of functioning ability 
-knows the basics of nutrition 
-knows how to monitor vital signs and their normal values 
-knows the principles of terminal care and is able to care for the dying and their significant others 
-knows how to assess and bring up issues concerning addictions 
-identifies his/her attitudes towards diversity
