Mechanics 2 and ThermophysicsLaajuus (3 cr)

Objectives

The students develop their technological and scientific way of thinking. They learn the scientifical analysis of phenomena and applying the fundamental theories in handling the motion of a rigid object as well as the mechanics of liquids and gases. The students know the physical grounds for thermal phenomena.

The students know the physical laws behind the operating principles of different devices and machines. The students are able to present well-grounded solutions to problems.

Content

Mechanics of rotating and rolling objects. Fluid and gas mechanics. Temperature, thermal expansion, ideal gas, heat, humidity of air, heat transfer.

Prerequisites

PTK-300 Mechanics 1 or equivalent
