Profile of the Programme
The degree is a bachelor-level professional higher education degree.
The degree complies with the criteria set by the Finnish national degree system as well as with the European framework for degrees and other competence.

Key Learning Outcomes
The programme contains two possible study paths: electrical building services and HVAC building services. At the conclusion of the course, students will have acquired expertise in their own field as well as a good working knowledge of the other field, also, in both cases, knowledge and understanding of construction engineering.
1st year theme: Need
The field of building services engineering, basic engineering skills and identifying your own learning needs.
2nd year theme: Draft
Energy efficient building services in a residential building. Working as a member of a team.
3rd year theme: Implementation
Energy efficient office premises.Improving independent information search.Working responsibly in different groups.
4th year theme: Use and maintenance
Use and maintenance of building services and managing entities.
During the third and fourth year of study you may choose a module to direct or supplement your own study path. You may also choose to take part in a foreign exchange or work on company projects.

Building services engineering is required in both new build and renovation projects. Tasks in building maintenance and usage are increasingly significant. After graduation you may find work within
•building services design
•contract work as an expert or supervisor
•system commissioning and maintenance
•device construction and sales
•legislative supervision and inspection
•real estate management.
As you gain more experience, you can progress in your career into supervision, management or consultancy. You may either deepen your understanding of a single field or become a generalist covering several. A professional in building services engineering may be employed by a small or a large company or be self-employed.
