Objectives

The students know how to use different learning methods and utilise them in their own learning, both individually and in groups. They realise what information they need, are able to evaluate and apply information and to search for information using various sources.
The students know how to act appropriately in both written and oral communication situations of the working life. They know how to take into account the demands of the recipient, the situation and the field and are able to communicate in a structured, understandable and convincing manner. They are able to and wish to develop their skills in Finnish language and communication as part of their professional skills. The students know how to write technical documents, reports and accounts.

Content

Learning process and critical information literacy, learning environments and information sources, evaluation and development of the students’ own learning.
Illustration, voice control, body language, contents and structure of a speech, feedback, evaluation, situational speeches, influential speeches, informative speeches, group work skills (basics, meetings). Technical writing and writing technical documents, grammar, document standards, basics of reporting, memo, job application (+attachments), communication, business letters.
