Objectives
The students are able to search for information regarding the weather conditions in Finland and to use the information to master indoor air conditions. They know how to use various criteria and needs to select solutions, as well as to plan and dimension the HVAC systems. The students are able to name equipment and system suppliers of the field. They are able to read HVAC documents. The students are able to use and interpret the regulations and instructions of the field. They can use the Mollier ix diagram to master air conditioning processes. The students recognise the entire implementation chain of a detached house project and especially the HVAC part of it. The students are able to draw up the HVAC (water + plumbing, heating, ventilation, automation) plans for a simple one-family house project using the designing tools of the field.
Content
Needs and goals definitions. Indoor air classification. Finnish weather conditions, heating-degree days, the required building regulations, graphic symbols, the progress of a design process, Mollier ix diagram, product presentations, HVAC options for a simple one-family house, as a joint design project, a HVAC planning assignment up to work drawing stage.
