Objectives

The students understand the fundamental phenomena and laws related to electric and magnetic fields, learn the related quantities and units and are capable to solve applied exercises.

The students become familiar with the experimental exploration of physical phenomena, learn to make controlled measurements, to report the results and to evaluate the reliability of the measurements and methods.

Content

Part 1: Electric field and its applications. Electric current, drift velocity. Magnetic field and its applications. Induction and its applications. Semiconductors.

Part 2: Familiarisation with various measurement techniques and devices, making of measurement records, calculation of results, evaluation of reliability, reporting, occupational safety. Laboratory exercises from various fields of physics.

Prerequisites

Basic course in physics or at least 5 physics courses in the upper secondary school or Physics supplementary course
