Introduction to Engineering MathematicsLaajuus (5 cr)

Objectives

The students learn the elementary functions and their properties. They learn the basic skills for handling mathematical expressions and will be able to create a mathematical model and solve the equations.

Content

Handling of mathematical expression, roots, radicals, rational expression and equation, quadratic equation, radical equation, set of linear equations, the concept of a function, rational and polynomial functions and their graphs. Parabolas, equations of higher degrees, set of equations, inequalities, proportionality, elements of exponential and logarithmic functions, exponential and logarithmic equations.
