Objectives

Goal of the course:
The students learn the relevant spoken and written communication skills for the different situations in working life. They know the demands of the audience, situation and the academic field and can communicate clearly, understandably and assertively. They are both capable and willing to develop their Finnish language and communication skills as part of their professional skills

Content

Contents:
Visualisation, use of voice, nonverbal communication, speech making (content and structure), giving and receiving feedback, evaluation, effective and informative speeches, team skills, meetings, writing technical reports (basics), PM, job application process, public relations, business correspondence

Literature: Will be agreed upon at the beginning of the course.
Methods: Spoken and written exercises, team work, self study, distant learning, lectures, discussions
Method of completion: Active participation in class (mandatory attendance), assignments, possibly exam/group exam
