The student can
- recognize the chemicals used in paper making
- choose the right chemicals for different purposes
- evaluate the effects of different chemicals on the processes, product quality and environments
- recognize and solve the problems of the paper making wet end chemistry.

Content

The control of wet end chemistry of the paper machine, retention, dewatering, deposits and their control, white pitch, foam and its prevention, internal sizing, fillers, carbon dioxide, fire retardants, aluminium sulfate, dying agents and optical brightening agents in paper making.
