Objective of course:
Students become aware of the health care of women during their life span; adolescence, reproductive phase and menopause. Students have the knowledge to support the pregnant woman and the whole family during the phases of the pregnancy. Students become aware of the process of growing up to be a parent and a family based on theory, research and practice. Students know the phases of delivery, and the postnatal care of the mother as well as the care of the newborn. Students are able to support people experiencing childlessness and miscarriage. Students become aware of the nursing of gynecological patients undergoing examinations, surgery and different treatments. Students know the prevention and nursing of infections, cancer and sexually transmitted diseases and their significance for the well-being of women. Students recognize the ethical issues related to maternal care and gynecological nursing. Students are fit for practice in multiprofessional teams.
