Objectives of the course: 
Students become aware of the health care of women during their life span; adolescence, repro-ductive phase and menopause. Students have the knowledge to support the pregnant woman and the whole family during the phases of the pregnancy. Students become aware of the process growing up to be a parent and a family based on theory, re-search and practice. Students know the phases of delivery, and the postnatal care of the mother as well as the care of the newborn. Students are able to support people experiencing childlessness and miscarriage. Students become aware of the nurs-ing of gynecological patients undergoing examina-tions, surgery and different treatments. Students know the prevention and the nursing of infections, cancer and sexually transmitted diseases and their significance for the well-being for a woman. Stu-dents recognize the ethical issues related to ma-ternal care and gynecological nursing. Students are fit for practice in multiprofessional teams.
